Day 3

Jim is going to get his scuba certification, so he spent most of the day with his instructor from Stingray Watersports, Paul. They did coursework & pool in the morning, and then instruction in/out of the water by Macabuca. Jim & Trina had their eggs & bacon earlier and Mike/Greta had them a bit later since Greta slept in until 830. Trina spent the morning by the pool.

Mike & Greta decided to try a short dive off of the CoCoCondo shoreline. The waves were coming in pretty good so the first site, Hepp’s Pipeline, was cloudy & we decided to go on to the 2nd site, Hepp’s Wall. That was a good 15-20 minutes swim out from shore and Greta was a bit challenged with the waves. We rested a bit at the buoy and then headed down.

Once you’re under the surface, waves are no longer a problem and everything is calm. We did a big circle of the area for 31 minutes. We saw a turtle shortly after descending. More impressive was the huge green eel we saw poking out from a rock. We could see at least 2 feet of animal and there definitely was more under the rock. It was a big wall with a narrow valley down the center and there were a lot of different sized fish that we saw. Once we surfaced, we swam back to shore – getting into the inlet was not as much of an issue as it appeared to be with the waves. We cleaned up the gear and headed back to our condo.

Jim/Trina had a quick lunch as Jim was on a quick break from his class. Mike/Greta followed up later & met Trina at Macabuca. We each shared the daily special of Jerk Chicken that came with rice, beans, slaw & potato salad. We then headed to the grocery store & liquor store for some more provisions and then back to the condo. It sprinkled on/off during the day, although there was a short heavy rain shower in the morning.

We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the condo or by the pool. Trina left with Jim that evening to meet with Paul for the end of the day at Macabuca – Mike had just made a blender drink but they missed out. Mike & Greta met up with them later & we all had supper there as well. The drink favorites so far are the Maca Punch, the Buca Kiss & a Captain Ginger Ale. For supper, everyone was happy. Jim & Trina shared conch ceviche and then had Mahi Tacos (Trina) and a Lobster Sandwich (Jim). Mike/Greta shared coconut shrimp and then had Chicken Curry (Mike) and Seafood Curry (Greta). As with the other meals, the food was great. Then we headed back for an early night as we all have a big morning tomorrow.
