Day 0
After dropping Remi off with the Schoeps at the Hutchinson dog park, it was time to start packing. It was a first for Remi - he'd never been with other people other than Mike & Greta for more than a few minutes, so hopefully everything goes well. He got to the Schoeps, ran through all the rooms looking for "his people" and then cried a bit. We'll see how this goes but it will be good for him to learn he's not being left again.

Greta got her packing done, and then Mike came home from work, they finished the last few things & headed out. We stayed at La Quinta near the airport - nothing fancy, but it's cheaper to stay there and leave the car than it would be to drive in the next morning & park at the airport. Plus, it's a little less stressful and leaves a little more time to sleep.

We tried eating at Sports Page Bar & Grill - a little local place - but the service was so awful we gave up & headed to Lucky's 13. There the food was good and service was fine.

Day 1
We got up at 4 am to make the 430 shuttle to the airport. Everything went VERY smoothly and in under an hour, we'd checked our bags and gone through security. With the Super Bowl just ending this past week, with Monday being the busiest travel day EVER at MSP, they had really figured things out. We didn't have to take off our shoes and everyone went through a metal detector very quickly. We grabbed a relaxing breakfast at French Meadow Bakery that was great. The flight to Charlotte left late due to de-icing the plane but we got there on time. A brisk walk to the other side of the airport and we met up with Jim & Trina at the gate. THye started boarding shortly after we arrived. The flight down to Grand Cayman was uneventful (which is good) and we all celebrated by buying a drink on the plane.

We arrived at Grand Cayman and got to disembark off of the back of the plane -which was great, as we were sitting in the back. We got right off the plane & down the steps onto the tarmac in the bright sunshine. My, did it feel good to get out of the single-digit snowy weather we'd left behind. We made it through immigration and customs quickly and the baggage arrived shortly afterwards. The guys went to get the rental car - this seemed to take as long as everything else we'd already done there - and then we were off!

Driving on the left hand side of the road is always a challenge - lots of turning on the windshield wipers instead of blinkers. The directions to Co Co Condo were a bit iffy, but we made it with no problems. We have a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath condo with a pool behind us. There's a rocky shoreline but we're still on the ocean. After unpacking, we walked down to a tiki bar named Marabu, and had a combo lunch/dinner - plus some fruity drinks. Mike had tuna ceviche, Trina had a chicken curry quesadilla, Jim had a salad with mahi mahi & Greta had a Greek salad with fried conch. It was all great and an excellent way to start the trip.

We walked back to our condo & got the car, then headed out for provisions. A little food at IGA plus a bottle of wine & champagne at the liquor store, and we were done for the night. We had a bit of wine that evening and sat by the pool, enjoying the quiet and the warm weather.
