Greta's blog, Day 5 (Wednesday March 10th):

We ran into town and picked up some more eggs at CVS, and then had a nice breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast) plus mimosas! It's vacation, so why not?

We relaxed a bit and then walked down to the Truman Waterfront Park (only 1/4 of a mile) where the USS Coast Guard Cutter Ingraham was docked. It was built in 1936 and decommissioned in 1988. It's the most decorated USCG ship to date.

For $10 apiece, we got a self-guided tour of the boat. It was very interesting to look into all the various rooms, included the bunks for enlisted, the officer's quarters, the captain's quarters, the mess hall, the sick bay, the engine room, the brig, and on & on. Most were cordoned off, but we could look through Plexiglas to see all the different areas. The old shower area had been converted into a small museum with lot of pictures and memorabilia to see. Once that was done, we headed back to the condo for the afternoon.

We just sat back and relaxed at the condo that afternoon and read. Mike tried to go to the pool but it was crowded. We have a nice covered patio - in times where it's windy and in the shade, it's a bit chilly there, but in the afternoon with sun peeking through, it was nice to sit outside.

Greta booked a table at MisoHappy (a Sushi/Thai restaurant just off of Duval that got the #1 rating on TripAdvisor for sushi in Key West) for 7:30 so we walked over there after 7 pm. It's really nice that many places are under a 15 minute walk from our door. We were seated immediately. They also only have a wine/beer license but that also includes sake. We each got a sake cocktail to start; Bubbles (Prosecco & Sake & Mint) for Greta and a Cucumber Sake drink for Mike, as well as a beer later on. We had a chicken satay appetizer - it was good and the peanut sauce was excellent. For the main course, we had a 23-piece sashimi platter (three kinds of tuna, plus salmon) plus an Ocean Roll (mainly tuna). It was all very tasty and got the specialty roll of the night as well, which had salmon as well as tempura flakes in it. We were too full for dessert and headed back to the condo to hang out for a bit before going to bed.
