Day 1: Feb 11, 2023

We we out the door at 4:30 am (Greta had dropped off Remi at "camp" at Back Forty Kennels in Lester Prairie the night before). Mike dropped Greta off at the airport to check the dive bag while he brought the car for parking at Terminal 2. Greta had no problems - no line at the kiosk, drop off with the agent, and made it through security (Pre-check is great) in under 30 minutes. Mike made it over not long afterwards, with only a 2 minute wait for the train, and almost no line at security. The plane took off on time, and we got to Dallas early. A quick breakfast (burrito for Greta, eggs & bacon for Mike) and we were ready for the next flight. That boarded with a full load, and we got to Roatan around 2:30 pm.

We had to wait in line at customs for over 2 hours and finally made it outside around 5 pm. We met our driver from the resort and we were off to Naboo Resort. It was about a 20 minute drive on a twisty road with heavy traffic but everything moved pretty well. Once inside, we checked in, and then set up our dives for the next few days with Sabrina, and met our dive master Elise. Then we got to our room on the 3rd floor. There are no elevators but 2 flights of stairs aren't too bad for us. It was warm in the room but we got the A/C going and got unpacked.

We headed downstairs to the resturant/bar for our "welcome drink", and tried the local beers. We also visited with another couple there who are at Naboo for the 2nd time and Roatan for at least the third time. Eventually we moved to a table for dinner (we hadn't eaten at all the restof the day other than a bit of snacks with our drink). Mike ordered grilled snapper and Greta got the mix grill (snapper, lobster and shrimp). Everything was great. We headed back up to the room, now happily full. We relaxed a bit, and then went to sleep.
