Jim was out the door first , as he had his last day of dives for certification with Paul at 8 am. Trina,
Mike & Greta were meeting Dominick & Pierre at the public boat launch at 9. The first dive site
we went to was The Great House Wall. It was a definitely 60+ foot dive and it’s always interesting to see
different things as you go down and then remember to look up. It was pretty windy so Trina opted to skip
the snorkeling at that site – especially since there wouldn’t be much to see from the surface. Our next
dive was Lost Treasure. We were lucky to see ANOTHER Goliath Grouper, who was handig out with a Green
Moray Eel. Pierre said he hadn’t seen a Goliath in over 5 months, so the fact that we saw 2 in 3 days was
lucky. Trina saw some turtles while snorkeling; we think there are more turtles around here than another
of the other places we’ve been in the past.
We had some lunch in the condo (wraps & chips). Greta went for a short but hot walk while Mike tried
to make a round of blender drinks. The blender broke , but we had a NutriBullet to help out. While the
rest of us spent the afternoon by the pool, visiting with a couple from the UP, Jim spent his afternoon
inside finishing his online work and then was able to notify Paul & Duncan he had completed everything
for his certification. Congrats!
That night, upon Paul’s recommendation, we headed to Liberty’s, which was a much more local place and not
on the water. We were the only people there that evening. There were 4 things on the menu. Ribs,
Caymanian beef, Turtle Stew & another thing. Jim/Greta/Mike all had the Caymanian Beef & Trina
had the ribs. All the food was great, although the same cannot be said for the 345 beer Mike ordered, which
was one of the local brews. The owner (we think) served us and because we had questions about the turtle
stew (but weren’t brave enough to order it) he brought us out a small plate of it. The broth it came in
was VERY good. The turtle meat was very tender.
We got back that evening and hung out by the pool for the rest of the evening.
