We got to the restaurant a bit early but they were ready for us. Scrambled eggs, bacon, etc - normal breakfast fare. It is a buffet
but a waiter refills Mike's coffee. There are a number of different juices to choose from, including orange juice, green juice,
orange-carrot, grapefruit and even beet juice. So far we've stuck with the orange juice.
Today our two dives were similar to yesterday's... one near the south end of the island and one near the resort. Gabriel Jr. was our
divemaster. Palancar Horseshoe was the first dive. It had a lot of jelly fish (just small ones) where we dropped in. They stung us
a bit but it's like a bug bite and didn't bother us later. We had a neat swim through section at one point. Drift diving definitely
is different - you really don't have to swim at all - you let the current take you along and be sure to pay attention to what's around
you so you don't miss it!
The 2nd dive was at Yucab. Early on, Mike found a cheap dive light, so now we own one of those! Someone else thought she saw a camera
floating but couldn't quite get to it. There was also a lot of plastic floating around - maybe something happened? Right after we
dropped in, we saw a HUGE porcupine fish hanging out under a ledge. Later on, weaving through various coral structure, we saw a
couple lobster. At first they were just walking the same direction but one of them decided to turn around and then they started
fighting - that was quite the show! Greta tried getting some video of a few fish swimming and ended up also filming a small green
moray eel swimming underneath it all.
After getting back to the resort, we decided today would be a relaxing day on the resort. We sat in the hot tub for a bit and then went
back to our room. We had also decided today to leave all our gear with the dive shop - for a small fee, they handle all the
rinsing/cleaning/drying for us. We can do it in our room but it's a little messy and it's so humid that nothing dries out, so since
we're on vacation, we decided to take advantage of it all.
We spent the afternoon lounging on our patio overlooking the relaxing pool. We got some ceviche delivered from Le Cap which was
wonderful and had a couple of beers to go with it. Later on, we headed to El Caribeno Restaurante for Happy Hour and to watch the
sun set, then had supper. Mike had the fish tacos and Greta had a whole fried fish. She tries to get that once nearly every
vacation - it's a lot of work to eat all the fish off the bone but it's always very good.
